BJ's upgrades build

Blazin_Jason -> BJ's upgrades build (5/10/2008 10:45:41 AM)

Can't drag this out as long as my blazer, as I need this to drive daily.  Plans are: POR-15 any surface rust, B-Quiet Ultimate the cabin, some more wire, amp rack underneath the box to mount 2 saz1500ds & 100.2, 8 cubes net @ 32 for 2 15" Fi BL's, red top in the rear, paint the interior plastic parts flat black, tweed some more stuff.  Waiting on knukonceptz order, and I need to order some more tweed to do the headliner.  I wasn't originally planning to do the headliner but I'm this far so I might as well.  Also going to steam pressure wash the carpet and see if I can't get it a little cleaner =)

So, it will be finished before work resumes?  Carpet looks in decent shape, let me know about the dry time on the steam clean.

Hope it goes quickly! *EHEM* Blazer *COUGH*

mmmmmmm I love a clean slate!!! Warning on the B-quiet.... It likes to fall off in extremem heat and after about a years "use". I will never buy it again. Its pretty thin stuff too.

No way it will be done by then.  Probably like 3 weeks I would say.  I'll do as much as I can, then I will be waiting for tweed to do the headliner.

I hope it works out.  I did research on the stuff before I bought it.  B-Quiet is in Canada so I got it in 3 days.  I wanted to get raammat but I didn't hear back from them in time.  I actually just got a response from them a few minutes ago.  It doesn't get extremely hot here but it can be at times.  I only plan on one layer on the roof anyways.  Might do a couple on the floor and sides or something.  Was it the ultimate you used?

bobditts -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/10/2008 12:02:08 PM)

When I had my b-quiet installed upsidown is where it preformed the worst. Maybe they have changed their adhesive since then? Hope it works out for you too. Keep the pics coming!

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/13/2008 4:29:37 PM)

No progress really.  I took my carpet into work last night and cleaned it.  It came out cleaner, as it wasn't too bad before.  I put it into the oven and that helped it dry faster.  So I can't say for sure how long it would have taken to fully air dry.  As long as you aren't doing the sound padding it should dry within a day or so.  I put some por 15 onto the floor boards.  Got my ports in today for the box.  4" aeros.  It's been raining since I started, but it's supposed to be nice this weekend.

What subs???  Why dont you just do a slot port?

***EDIT***  sorry, i read your first post... two 15 fi's?  Its gonna be loud as fu*K bro...  But i would still do a slot port!

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/16/2008 6:20:45 PM)

I can barely fit the box as it is I think.  The aeros should allow for the box to be a little smaller.  Got my wire in from knu, still need to order more tweed :(  This is how far 50 square feet got me.  I think I will probably order some BXT from rammaat and some ensolite.  The other 50 square feet I have should finish up the rear of the truck.

oakleyg -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/16/2008 10:08:55 PM)

How many cubes is the box going to be?

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/16/2008 10:29:05 PM)

I'm going to be shooting for about 8 cubes net.

oakleyg -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/16/2008 11:57:40 PM)

I don't think your going to have enough port area with 5 4'' aeros.

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 11:27:34 AM)

You're probably right.  Couldn't fit 3 6" in there easily, and I just like using aeros for some reason.  My current box is 4 cubes with only 2 4" ports.  It sounded good to me.

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 2:24:04 PM)

I have maybe 10 feet left of the deadener.  There is also none on the tailgate yet.  I want to put some deadener on the back of the plastic panels as well.  Going to have to make one roll of raammat cover the roof.

Big Frost -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 8:07:40 PM)

hey, sorry for my lack of audio knowledge, but what exactly will lining your car with the deadener do? ive stripped my car ready to carpet, and was thinking maybe i should do that as well...

It's to prevent alien mind control while driving.  Check out this site for some information on it.  Basically adding the deadener will add mass to help keep panels from vibrating.  Once I add some absorbing foam it should cut it down further.  It doesn't have to be used for audio specific applications.  Luxury vehicles will normally have much more deadening in them compared to an econo type car.  It really cuts down on road noise etc.  I like my music loud, but not everyone enjoys listening to what I am.

Big Frost -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 9:34:02 PM)

Great read, read it all, thanks!

How much of b-quiet ultimate did you order? 100 sq feet?

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 9:39:51 PM)

Yes I ordered 100 feet thinking that would be enough.  I used about 90 on what you see in the pics.  I already had used some dynamat extreme on the doors.  I have lots of overlaps with what I've done.  I will be ordering another 60 feet of raammat to do the roof.  Are you in Canada or the US?

Big Frost -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 9:43:28 PM)

Im in the US, and i think the B-quiet ultimate looks like a good idea for me as well.

Did you only do the floor? or did you do any of the panels besides the doors?

also, how are you going to go about the roof? are you going to secure the mat to the top of the headliner facing the roof? or secure it to the roof facing the floor?

Blazin_Jason -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 9:51:12 PM)

I did the floor and sides with it.  The roof I will remove the headliner and apply the deadener to the sheet metal.  The headliner is made of foam and you don't want to put any weight on it.  I would suggest you look into this instead of the b quiet.  It's cheaper and hear lots of good things about it.

Big Frost -> RE: BJ's upgrades build (5/17/2008 9:55:11 PM)

well based on what i read in that article, it doesnt stand up to well in heat right?...

I live in florida, and im pretty sure my car is going to get EXTREMELY hot in the upcoming months...i even had to buy CALIPER paint instead of regular to do my interrior because of the heat rating...

do you think it will stand up in all that heat? i dont want anything to melt, or smell like asphalt...
