has anyone ever done this before? and if so how simple/diificult is it. i guess im wondering is it just as simple as getting a can of spray paint and going to town on the tail light or is a lil more involved than that.

....why are you going to paint your tail light...?

If you're trying to tint it...I don't think that's the best way to do it.

If your trying to "Smoke" them, i dont think spray paint is the way to go, it will completely cover your tail light, and to my knowledge, wont show anything thru ( i could be wrong)

What i suggest is getting light wraps on ebay, or even a sheet of tinted dark film and cut it yourself. They also sell Smoke covers for headlights and tail lights...

If you're looking for color-match paint, one of our members-2002XTREME paints them if you send him your set or buy a set off him if he has some available.

You want a product called VHT niteshdes, summit and autozone carries it. Last set I done I just wet sanded the lights with 600, shot enough coats on to get it as dark as I wanted, then cleared over it but you don't have to clear.

Been years ago when the crappy looking covers were in (didn't like them then) but I'm not much for tinted lights so I've never done anymore but it held up good.

get the can of vht like neo said... very easy to do.

first make sure you clean the taillights really good with soap and water to get any wax and whatnot off.
sand with a fine paper, i used 1000 grit last time i did it.
spray thin, even coats until you get desired darkness.. 3 is usually good.

optional
- spray with clear, and polish with a polishing compound.

thats the way i've always done it. most people dont bother with the clearcoat.
