Hi Guys, I have an 88 S10 Balazer with the 4.3 TBI 4x4. I have just installed a used low miles engine with all new stuff. It starts fine, a little high rpm for a minute, but then perfect. The issue is when I try to accellerate. The engine cuts out and stalls. It sounds like it has died but it is still running. It also does it in Park if you try to step on it and rev it up too fast. Can anyone tell me what to check first? Thanks.

When you swapped motors did the exhaust take any beating during the job? ie: did you drop it down on the floor or shock it in any way? Check your catalitic converter, if it''s broken up the little pieces can clump together by exhaust pressure and act like check valves...the back pressure from this will stall out the motor. I had the same symptoms and it was the CAT...it wasn''t even broken up that bad, just a few pieces rattling around in it. The CAT is really fragile, I took my old one apart and you could crumble the pieces in your hand.
