I'm looking at buying new tires for my 1998 GMC Jimmy.  I have been looking and i'm thinking about ordering these....

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Road+Venture+MT+KL71&partnum=215QR5KL71&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes&place=6

Does anybody know if I would have a problem fitting and 11.5" wide tire on the stock rim?  If not where could I get a set of Cragars or something that the tires would fit nice on?

I would appreciate any feedback at all.

Thanks

do you have a lift on your jimmy? if not then youll have alot of trimmin just to get the tires to fit.

stock rims are 15x7, and safe range is +-4'' from rim-tire.  So largest you should go is 11 inches....THEREFORE...no, you can't put an 11.5'' wide tire on a stock rim safely.  On top of that....you need ~4'' lift to clear 32's.

awesome tires though

There are some folks that have put 12.5" wide tires on the stock rims and say they have had no problems.  Very few shops will mount them for you but I'm sure if you choose to go this route you'll be able to find someone to do it.

I was also looking at a pro comp 32 by 11.5 all terrain tire...Would I have a problem fitting them on the stock rim? Oh and I DO have 4 inches of lift on the Jimmy.

I thought you were selling your jimmy? If you are keeping it you are going to need new rims for the 32s. Oh and for every one else here is how I know about his truck.

Those should work, but you might have to do a bit of trimming so they don''t rub. I am planning on bumping up to 32s after the new shackles.

So they would work?  What about for the backspacing?  Would that work?

Nobody know if those rims would work as far as backspacing? the only reason why I ask this is I have heard that peole tend to have problems finding wheels to fit blazers and jimmys because of the odd backspacing.

So about the 5x4.50 bolt pattern. They don''t have a 5x4.75...would they still work being a quarter of an inch smaller?

No, the only way to make them work would be to get a spacer that adapts the stock 5x4.75 pattern to 5x4.5.  IMHO that is more work than it is worth when there are other rims available with our bolt pattern.

EDIT: Here''s a similar rim in the bolt pattern you need: CLICK

if u dont have a lift, i would not get them, go with a slightly smaller size, should fit perfectly without trimming... u dont want to trim its a biatch
