I thought about getting a rear mount like is on the 2 doors and modifying it to make it fit my 4 door.

I just bought a roof basket from ebay and it will be here tomorrow. Im going to post some pics with it together and rig together something to hold my spare. I paid $130 shipped for the basket.

On the back hanging from the spare tire carrier...

Also dont run 30''s if you are running 31''s ... say good bye to your gears!

I used a vette rim as a spare for awhile because I never had a full size spare... But now I have none because I REALLY REALLY want a swing away arm..........

how big of a hassle would attaching a zr2 style tire carrier to the back of my 4x4 4dr be?

Don''t do it!  I have one, 2nd truck in a row and i dislike it.  It wrinkles your fender from the weight, twists the body(my triangle rear window on pass side doesn''t line up perfect anymore), creates rattles, blocks most of your view through the back window and makes it a pain to get into your back glass quickly.

They look cool but really it ends there, especially with oversized tires....IMO.

It''s also been called a parachute by some of the ZR2USA guys...

One of ''em took his off, and gained 1.5 - 2 MPG
