Hi, I just bought a ''96 4 Door 2WD Blazer the other day. After some thinking, I decided to lift it. I''ve heard a little about the torsion bars and putting the blocks in the rear, but I am by no means mechanically inclined at all really. Just wondering what all I need to do to get the 2" factory lift. My friend that works at Advace Auto Parts showed me the blocks for the back springs and told me a spring compressor would be the easiest way. I''m not looking to raise it for off roading, simply for looks. I don''t really have the money to spend on lift kits, so I figured this would be the easiest way. Also, I''ve heard doing the torsion lift wears down ball joints and such(which I have no idea what those are). So what are the pros and cons that go along with this?

Thanks

I don''t mean to be the bearer of bad news, but you can''t do a torsion bar lift, because 2wds dont have torsion bars. Also you can''t do blocks, because we have axel over springs. So in turn blocks would actually lower your truck not raise it. You need to either get shackles or an add-a-leaf for the rear and you are going to need to do a search for lifting the front of a 2wd.

I think that he is looking for an alternate approach to gaining height without the purchase of an actual lift kit.

man your lucky with a 2wd just get some shackles for the read and "i have writers block ar the moment....." the things the wheels go on, they sell ones that give you a lift a buddy of mine did it to an s10 puckup just get your desired lift prolly alot cheaper than an actual lift, you can always do a body lift think they go for about 100 bucks but all your doing is lifting the body off the frame

thanks for all the responses guys.
I found out yesterday it''s acutally a ''95, but no big deal.
Anywho, I called a customs shop near me and he explained raising a 2wd is more expensive, but in turn a body lift would work. Said it''d run me about $150, but $350 for installation. So I believe I''ll just buy the kit and find someone to do it, or figre it out myself. Soo if you guys can find me any kind of step-by-step help, that''d be great :]
I''m pretty much just going for a bigger height to fit bigger tires for looks. Not to mention this car won''t pass inspection until I get some put on :P So I''m hoping to just do this all at once
