Just a curious question brought on by a thread that i was bound to bring way off topic.  Does anyone know or think canadian hillbillies exist?  I mean, are they climate bound to the southern US? or is it possible to have a french speaking hillbilly?  Because, I think the closest thing I have ever come to seeing a hillbilly here was watching people in newfoundland sit on their porch on garbage day with shotguns to shoot away sea gulls.  But they are normal people like you and me.  I mean if you have 200 seagulls on one garbage bag, you need some sort of control right??  I dont know anymore, anyways, dont think im crazy.... I get these type of messed up questions in my head sometimes and like to hear what people think.  Oh well, what do you think? Hillbillies or not?

Sure, they exist. My buddy''s wife (from Canada) calls them ''Newfies''. [:D] (You know what I mean).

Oh, I am pretty sure I know that there are Canadian hillbillies. I come from northern Ontario originally, and I can think of a few people I''d call rednecks. I think the term "hillbilly" is a regional thing, because I''d call these people rednecks or hicks.

Now now, im a newfie born and raised, but i aint no hillbilly.  But I can see how people get them mixed up.  Besides, newfoundland doesnt really have any hills.

i''m no hillbilly but i have shot a few seagulls and ravens on garbage day. and i shoot squirrls for fun.

I bet you dollars to donuts your so-called "Redneck Canadians" can''t hold a candle to the inbred rejecks I see day in and day out at work. Take a mountainous small town in eastern Tennessee, mix in a little aunt mom and uncle dad, some meth use, and VOILA! Frightening!

besides all of us hilly''s that live in the U.P. invade canada every once and a while and see people just like us
