I want to post a B&M Transpak and aux tranny cooler install. I'll let the Admin or mods put this where they see fit. With the help of Kyle, he and I installed a Hayden transmission auxillary cooler. It's inline with the existing cooler. It's mounted to the front of the radiator. I started it up and let it idle and as expected, no leaks. I haven't benefitted from this install due to the cold weather. As a matter of fact, I blocked the fins on the cooler because the wind chill was cooling the fluid so much I noticed the torque converter wasn't locking up! I was looking for firmer shifts on this slush box and not change the shift points. I ordered a B&M Transpak from Summitracing P/N BMM-70365, that claims to firm the shifts on my 4L60E. Kyle and his cousin took a few pics when someone remembered to. I didn't The parts were all accounted for and the instuctions were easy to understand. This kit basically replaced some springs and in place inserted spacers in their place. It came with two install options. HD and street N strip. After reading a tech article from FullsizeChevy, I decided to go with the latter install. Before It was buttoned up, we installled a B&M transmission pan drain kit. NAPA carries it and that was the only one they had. It makes draining the tranny fluid easier, less messy. I let it idle and shifted threw all the gears while on the jack stands. No leaks, and it felt fine. We were cleaning up and I was draining the old fluid into adrum and I found a valvebodty bolt in the bottom. Son of a gun, we had to drain it again. Remove the pan, and find were it belongs. Kyle crawled under there for a looky see and found where it belonged. He said he had no problem finding the hole. *snicker* It went in near the back of the valvebody. Slapped the pan back on and torqued the bolts again. I used 1 qt of tranny fluid from our second drain and poured 4.5qts of fresh fluid in there when all said and done. Castrol Dexron Micron III is what I dumped in there. Good enough. The ride result? It was worth it! At 2000-2200 RPMs (my normal driving range,) shifts from 1-2 are very noticeable. It kind of bangs (no noise, just an anology,) into 2nd. From there, 2-3 it's a firm shift but wont spill your coffee. The same goes for 3-4 shifts. Down shifts are normal, unfelt so I know the kit was installed correctly. The only regret was I didn't a seperator plate. It is worn from the check balls slapping it. I found them online cheapest at $17.99. I'll install a new seperator and seperator gaskets mabe in 20,000 miles. Below is a pic of the valvebody just removed. See where a check ball wore out the seperator? More of the seperator plate, more worn areas. The valvebody is on the left. In the back, a spring that will never be going back in.
