is there any other way to lift a blazer 2'''' without getting a body lift kit? a friend said he had a shackle lift on the back and turned some kind of rod to lift the front. any ideas?

Yes, you can do that.  Your friend is referring to the "torsion bars" on the front.  Use the SEARCH function at the top of the screen and search "torsion bars" or "torsion crank".  This topic has been discussed hundreds of times and Jigg did a ''''Do It Yourself'''' on how to crank your torsion bars including pictures.
