i have a 1992 blazer 4.6, 4x4 4dr, here is the problem the first time when in 4x4 when i first bought it a couple of weeks ago, i was out messing around in some mudd not deep or anything probably cvould have used 2wd, anyways, my something front diff/transfer case not sure, would disengage and just start screaming the good ol'' grind the gears song, anyways, so i had to do brake work and i noticed a sensor on the front diff unplugged, so i somewhat plugged it back in, i mean somewhat because i couldn''t get it to click back into place, probably just needs some cleaning but anyways, out and about off roading again, first day good no problems, the second day about 2 hours into the off road adventure, same thing happens, loud grinding but the sensor looks like it hadn''t moved at all, i''ll have to go back and check the plug and make it i get it plugged in this time, but are there any other suggestions to my problem? i''ve taken it to a shop and it didn''t do it on the test drive, but once it was in mid air on the hoist it kicked out and all i got was "there is something wrong with your tansfer case have a nice day" i was like not s**t why do you think i''m here? anyways, help advice anything would be great, want to try and get this fixed before the fall when hunting season opens up... and also any suggestios as to where to get a locker/mini spool or what axles i have in this vechile so i could start sourcing out? searchs are comming up dry, thanks guys!!

have you checked the vaccum switch on top of the transfer case yet?  have someone shift it into 4x4 while you watch the actuator (probably under the battery) and make sure it pulls all the way in. if you have a vaccum leak @ the switch(or hoses) the front end will jump in and out of 4x4 when you least expect it
