Thinking of converting from 4wd to 2wd.

95_4door -> Thinking of converting from 4wd to 2wd. (6/27/2008 5:22:16 PM)

I am having so many problems with my v8 swap and my 4wd. My oil pan still is sitting right on the differential. The front driveshaft is tearing up my oil filter. I was thinking about just converting it to 2wd and calling it good. I already have the 2wd output shaft and tailhousing, I have someone that can make me a new driveshaft. I will have to tear apart the front axles to keep the outboard shaft. Then I might even throw on a set of coilovers and get rid of my torsion bars.
I just don''t know what to do. I like the 4wd, but it is ending up being a hassle.

If anybody has any input, I would love to hear it.

I''d use an oil filter relocation kit and cut the oil pan up and weld it back together.  I''d hate to lose the functionality...

A buddy of mine does 4wd to 2wd conversions on all his v8 S10 blazers, the 4wd model has a stronger frame making it better for conversions. Go for it! [8D]

After thinking about it and weighing the consequences and price, I am going to keep my 4wd. I am pulling the motor right now and will probably start on cutting the oil pan tomorrow. I am also going to replace the leaking rear main seal too. I''ve got an oil filter relocator, but need more hose to use it. I can''t find 1\2 oil hose for under $6 a foot.
