Hey All,

Been a long while since I have been on here. Last summer I installed a CrimeStopper 2-way alarm system. Not long after going to college I realized this was a bad idea as it drained my battery. Since I am on a walking campus and do not drive my blazer often while at college I would have to jump-start it every time because the alarm drained the battery.

My question is does anyone know or have any idea of a way to eliminate this problem besides going out and running it every few days? Or does anyone know of a remote starter system that I can use my stock key fob with? Really I don''''t care about putting an alarm system on, I would like to have a remote starter though so if anyone has input on that I would appreciate it.

Thanks

well the best thing u could do is to go start the truck every once in a while. its not really good to let a vehicle sit for very long and if the battery is getting drained by an alarm system it is probaly sitting for to long or ur alarm is not fuctioning right

how often are we talking about here? few times a week? a month

some remote starts have an option to start the vehicle every preset amount of time...and you could use a function like that...or if you simply live near your vehicle...you do have a remote...wouldn''t hurt to press that button every now and then right? lol but you got the gas issue then...

but i agree an alarm shouldn''t drain your battery like that...whats the model number or your system?

What are you using for a bypass module?  When I installed my RS in my Rainier, I had to put a relay on the GWR (ground while running) wire from the RS module to the bypass module.  Seems the RS would randomly pulse the GWR wire, waking up the bypass to a 5A draw state.  Would kill my battery over a long weekend.

It has been quite some time since I have messed with the system. I took it out because it was draining the battery and as I was in college I couldn''t put up with it always being dead. When I am there I live on a walking campus, so I walk to everything and rarely have to use the blazer. If it sat for a week it was dead.

Now that I have the system out and everything I don''t really want to put it back in (we still have the wires ran through the truck). I changed my mind and don''t like the remotes it comes with. It is the same system I put on my ''84 blazer, but that has two 12" Kicker Comp CVR''s and a 400 watt Kicker amp. So I wanted to know if it got broken into, that''s why I went with the 2-way system.

Do any of you know of just a remote starter that has key fobs similar to the stock blazer ones? I really like those lol.

Kyle, I will look into the bypass thing for the ''84 though. Thanks for that information!

You should need a bypass on a 84.  Also i have 1 of those Crime Stopper 2 ways, probably the worst alarm starters on the market. (yes im bashing mr. loud, but that is because i have one of these and they suck.  I dont lie the things i bash i bash cause i know they are garbage....oh and to piss you off  ;P)

Could your probelm be you battery is just not holding its charge?  Maybe its not the alarm at all.

Na, we just had it replaced last summer and when I went home got it tested because I was having the charge issue and they said it was fine.

I just want a good remote starter that has a key fob like the stock one lol, I don''t care to have an alarm system anymore.
