Ok i know this topic comes up all the time and i have read past posts on it, but they always seem to leave me wanting to know more about them. I am finally retiring my 1996 4dr as my DD, and im looking at keeping it as a project. I have been thinking about doing this conversion, but never seriously pondered it until now. I just recently saw in a petersan''''s 4 wheel and off road mag a swap of the factory rubicon axles that can be purchased right through your dodge dealership into i think an XJ or Grand Cherrokee (probably the same thing but i dont memorize heep ****), and since they come as D44 axles, driver side drop, 4.10 gears and electric lockers all for 1400 bucks a peice (they have both front and rear), im starting to save my cash. I drooling over the thought of a SFA in my blazer. I would like to keep it streetable with a maximum of about 35''''s, but i want a coil-front suspension. I remember reading it somewhere that someone is enginerring a bolt in kit which is awesome. This vehicle has been promised to my 2yr old nephew, so i need to get it finished so i can have some time to wheel it and start pulling out my buddies 1995 heep. haha any information or a point in the right direction would be a great help. thanks

Try searching over on www.s10forum.com There are a lot of members over there that have SFA trucks and a lot of good info on how to over there. Thats where I''ve got most my info on the swap.

i haqvent sen anyone thats done a coil spring swap as yet, but theres a lot of leaf spring swaps out there. i''m planning on doing a leaf spring swap this winter using axles out of a 87 wrangler. found some decent pics of the front crossmember from this guy

ive look at a friends TJ and doing a coil spring swap looks like a royal pain, not only do you need the spring mounts you''ll have to fabricate trailing arm mounts ect. take a look under a late 90''s tj and you''ll see what''s involved.

My ZR2 will have a SFA soon, coil spring swap, getting the D44 Rubicon axle, cant wait till it''s finished.[:)]

hey verno, just saw you''re from Ft wayne, i''m over in NW indiana.[:D]

just got back from my shop a while ago, just pulled the front diff housing outta my blazer, (thinking i just had a bad bearing),  but found broken spider gears, broken side gears, chipped ring and pinion , and a cracked /broken LH case[:(]
already have a line up on a wrecked blazer that a friend wants the engine out of, so maybe i''ll snag the diff housing and toss it back in mine if all else fails, everthing will get welded back up, the case packed with grease, and hope it holds together for one more trip to the Badlands before the weather turns.
