I''m looking to get an alarm for my 98 LT probably in the next two months or so. I need some suggestions for good (but relatively cheap) alarms. I would say spend no more than $300. I don''t need anything super sensative, just maybe what to look for in a good alarm.

Are you installing it yourself? All alarms are pretty much the same. Its the installation that matters. I say get one of those 2way lcd remote starts off ebay for $100 or so. Or go color for $200. I usually buy mine at a audio shop and say I''m installing myself they give me a good discount and still give me the manufactures warranty.

anything by DEI (viper, python, valet, etc)
Compustar is good
The ebay ones are pretty much the same as the compustar ones.

IDK, are they pretty complicated to install on your own? How hard would it be with the keyless entry?

If you find or get someone to give you the wireing diagram for your truck, its not too hard. I think I''ve seen the diagrams somewhere here on the forum. Make sure to solder all your connections though. I''ve seen tons of problems caused by using quick connectors on alarms and remote starters.

I think I would be better off having it professionally installed, I''m not the best when it comes to wires :(
