I was coming back from my aunts house in texas and we were leaving her house for a 10 hour+ road trip. And the SES light came on. So I was like this is perfect, we are about to go on a really long trip and something messes up on my truck. So I stopped to look around the truck to see if I could spot something wrong. I didn''t see any smoke, irregular dripping, and anything else. Got back on the interstate and the truck drove the same, no clicking, popping, etc. So I called my dad and told him the news and said it was probably an O2 sensor. So I got home and the next day went to Auto Zone to get a diagnosis run on it and it was an O2 sensor that was defective. The guy that helped me asked me if I wanted to buy one for before or after the catalytic converter and I said before it. So I looked under the truck when I got home and saw three O2 sensors and didn''t know which one was defective. So I went back today and asked someone who worked there (different person) to run a diagnosis again and I told the person my story and she told me that the one on the exhaust manifold was defective and the other one before the catalytic converter was defective. So I have to buy another O2 sensor and I also have to reset the truck with a tool that they have, but they can''t do that anymore so I have to do it there or rent it and come home and do it. So before I do that, can I reset the truck without a tool? Because I would rather that than spending money to rent a tool. This problem is really starting to get expensive and i''m sick of it.
