Well, he has you on weight and hp. 1967 Mustang Code A engine stats: 225hp Challenger Special 289ci V-8 (Optional, Code A) 4.00in bore x 2.87in stroke 10.0:1 Compression Ratio Premium fuel Four-barrel carburetor Automatic Choke Self-adjusting Valves with Hydraulic Lifters 225 HP @ 4800rpm; 305lb-ft @ 3200rpm 1967 Mustang Curb Weight ~3400lbs 2001 Blazer stats (stock) 190 HP @ 4,400 rpm; 250 lb-ft @ 2,800 rpm and a curb weight of ~4100lbs. Your launch depends on the transmission and rear axle ratio of the Mustang and your rear gear as well. If the mustang has a manual tranny, then the launch is completely up to the skill of the driver as is each and every shift down the 1/4. Given a decent driver, the Mustang shouldn't have a problem handily beating you down the 1/4. You may jump out at the start if you hit the lights right, but he should run you down before he hits second, then he should be gone.

Are you sure he has a 4-spd auto??? Is it a modern transmission? I don't think that Ford had a 4spd auto back then... quote:
TRANSMISSIONS Three-speed manual transmissions are included as standard equipment throughout with all engines except for the 289 High-Performance and 390 GT V-8's. These transmissions are the constant-mesh type that fully synchronize in all forward gears. Available with all engines, the smooth shifting Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic transmission features an extremely versatile shift pattern for the 1967 Ford Mustang. This shifting arrangement permits both manual and fully automatic operation - whichever the driver desires for the immediate road conditions or driving situation. A four-speed constant-mesh manual transmission is optional with all engines except the 200 CI six cylinder. This transmission is fully synchronized in all forward gears, permitting up shifts and downshifts at reasonable car speeds without gear clash or noise. When ordered with the 289 4V High-Performance or 390 4V engine it will include a trip odometer and tachometer. The Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic would be the 3spd auto... I think... I believe it came in both a C-4 and C-6 where the C-6 is a heavier duty unit. Ok, Um.. I don't know whether to believe this or not, but the info I found was that a stock 1966 Mustang 289/auto runs 10.7 0-60 and around 17.9 in the 1/4. It would be a driver's race with those numbers. Now a '64 289/4spd runs 7.5 0-60 and 15.7 in the 1/4. That is more than enough stock to wipe out a stock Blazer by about 2 seconds in the 1/4. These numbers seem way too far apart to me, but it could be because of the inefficiency of the early autos...
