I need to know where the serial number is on the motor of a 2000 blazer 4.3.I just came back from the garage where I took it to get my head lights fixed.not only could he not fix the headlights but he informed me that my serial numbers had been tamperd with or were all together missing.

The serial number on the engine doesn''t mean anything.  You need to check the VIN that is located on the driver side front of the dash visible through the windshield.  Check to make sure that it matches the title and the registration of the vehicle.

Some vehicles also have the VIN in various other locations.  My old 2000 Bravada had it on all of the doors, etched into the windows, both front fenders, the hood, the rear liftgate, and a few other locations.

They are called con-vins.  Partial vins that law enforcement knows the location of.  I do not know where they are on the s-series trucks, but if you were really worried about it, you could go to the local police and have them check the truck over.

It is quite odd that it would not have a VIN plate behind the windshield.  Where did you purchase the vehicle from?  You may want to consider getting a carfax report on the VIN you registered.
