I drive a 1995 chevrolet blazer and last week my fan broke off. I could hear a grinding sound coming from my engine, so i pulled over. I had a buddy listen to the engine as i gave it gas. When I put the peddle down hard the fan broke off at the water pump, the rod snapped. The fan took out the rad like a have never seen before, it was massacred! also many hoses and wires were sheared. Blew my mind.......anybody seen this before????
My friend lived.....ahahaha but he was traumatized for the day

Never before have I seen a stock fan come loose.  Did it break the snout off of the water pump or did the water pump fail?

The snout that connects the fan to the water pump broke just inside the pump.......I dont think it failed.......there wasnt any water, but Im not sure. Just before this happened I put the pedal to the floor and nothing was happening, but the engine was still running

Its a crap shoot with junkyard radiators.  Shop around, you should be able to find it cheaper.  RockAuto.com has one for as low as $133 depending on what you need.

Sorry to hear, but was quite funny how you explained it I got a used rad at pull a part cheap, and had it flushed be for putting it in. You type "pull a part" in search, and see if ones near you.
