Here''s the story.  I own a 97 Blazer with 160k miles.  For the past few years I have been having electrical issues.  3 years ago I would turn the key in the ignition and.....no power, I would bang the steering wheel a few times and the power would go on and off I would go.  This happened countless times.  Recently (6 months ago) I would turn the key and the power would go on (only the radio) and the fuel gauge would SLOWLY climb up to full (then reset to where it should be, depending on how much gas there was) and then the dashboard lights would go on and I could start the car.  If I tried to start it without waiting for the dash lights it would keep turning over and over.  I took it to my mechanic and he said that he nor Chevy had ever heard of that problem.  He replaced a bunch of wires in the ignition as well as a new ignition and a new "brain" and the thing still won''t spark.  It will turn over until the battery dies but it will not start.  Does anyone know what the problem is???  I appreciate anything you guys can tell me.  Thanks.   George

hey, i''m new and own a 00 ZR2. I had a friend when I went to auto diesel college that had a 97 Sonoma and his truck did the same thing. I don''t know for sure but you may want to look into the possibility of your ECM going bad. We contacted a local junkyard and got a used computer from the same age range and it worked.  We took his apart and found some connections loose and the motherboard was starting to go bad.  Hope it helps a little.
