Hi All,

I am thinking of getting a Jimmy, can anyone please let me know the major differences between the 1st GEN (93) and the 2nd (95 & 96),

what concerns me the most is the off road ability, I have been hearing a lot of negativity regarding the 2nd Generation Jimmy''s..

is this correct? if it is will I be able to easily mod it (lift it mainly) to achieve greater off road ability?

Thanks ahead.

Wow..  You waited 12 hours...

Could you give some more information about what you are looking at?  Is the 93 TBI or CPI?  What do you want to do with it?  What "negativity" have you heard towards 2nd gens?  Help us help you.

well like most people I drive on paved roads 85%+ of the time, I do like the power figures (torque & bhp) provided by the CPI engine
I understood that it''s preffered to take the 96+ engines.

I''m not looking at all for the TBI, after quite a few searches on the net I noticed there are quite a few people claiming that the 2nd Gen can only work it''s way up to "medium grade" offroad trails, I currently own a stock Daihatsu F310 (weak 1.6 gas engine) with 235 wheels on it and it can go through quite tough trails (doesnt do really well on dunes though).

lets say I buy a 96 Jimmy/Blazer and I want to go through tough (hard) technical terrain (boulders) do I require stuff such as a 3" lift 31" tires as a mandatory? (I am talking about technical terrain that a Trooper 3.2 4dr and a Shogun/Pajero 3.0 can go through in stock form)

Thanks! :)
