I need to know how to replace my starter. Can someone link me to instructions? Or have any for me to use, thanks.

If you do not already have one, get a repair manual for your truck. Starter replacements are covered in the Haynes and Chiltons manuals that are available at many parts stores. Greater detail can be found in the factory service manuals, but they are considerably more expensive. To discuss further, we would need to know more information about what you are driving.

Disconnect both battery cables. take out both bolts holding the starter in. Disconnect the wires attached to the starter. Being a ''96 you should remove the lower flex plate cover ont eh tranny. It wont come out due to the tranny cooler lines, Just let it hang and that will give oyu some clearance. It may be easier to loosen the wires to the starter while it is still bolted in place. This is a very simple job, HOWEVER space is at a premium and that makes this a very frustrating job. No tools seem to fit no matter what you do, and the starter once disconnected doesn''t seem to want to slide out. It is easier to jack up the truck and take the passenger side tire off, then go through the wheel well, between the body and frame to get at the starter wire bolts. You should loosen them while the starter is still bolted to the engine, however getting them off the rest of the way will be easier once the starter has been unbolted from the engine. I just saved oyu 30 minutes of frustration.
