im not sure if my 4wd is working correctly, i stop, put it in nuetral and then press the 4 hi button and it starts to flash and then nothing happens. is it supposed to stop flashing?

Yes it should stop flashing and light up.  Replace the tranfer case vacuum switch.  Its about 15 bucks at autozone.  Do a search on it and find out more information about it.

ya it is the vacuum switch. also you dont need to but it in neutral to shift into 4hi only 4lo
