I have a 1997 Blazer LS 4x4 with a 4.3 L V-6. I need to change out the engine. Mine the 8th diget in the S/N is W. I have been told that there are TWO different engine codes for this year. Is that correct? I was also told that they wouldn''t interchange because of internal changes. Is this TRUE? It only makes sense to me that as long as I''m dealing with an engine with the same induction, (mine being a mass airflow) & all the sensors plug in it wouldn''t make any difference.
Can someone enlighten me on this. I found an engine at a wrecking yard. It is out of the Blazer so what do I need to be aware of?

Thanks,
Craig

Any engine 96 through early-01 should work.

The only hang up may be if your state requires the same year engine or newer. You will want to look into this first.

Thanks for the input. That is what I thought also. I''m pretty sure this engine is newer. I also pretty sure there is no State requirement because we have no smog requirements beyond Federal.
