Hi all,

I have a 1999 4 door Blazer LT with all bells & whistles known to men...
I've just purchased it and still have warranty left on it.

I think my interior lights are acting weird. At night, when I unlock the doors with the remote, the lights come on (that is ok).
Then, after a while (my guess, 30 sec?) the lights go out again, regardless if I have opened a door or not. (that is strange to me) I would expect the lights to stay on until: a longer amount of time has elapsed (> 5 minutes?) or I start the engine.

Also, after a drive (also at night), when I take out the key of the ignition and open de driver door, the lights do NOT work! Only after I've closed the door again (I'm outside the vehicle then) and I lock the doors via the remote, the int lights come on for a second or 10 and then go out again...

This really got me puzzled....
Could someone please tell me if this is 'correct' behavior, or if my Blazer is acting strange?

Anther thing, which might be related: the door switch, which protrudes from the side of the dash into the door (a almost 1 inch long, square, black thingie) exactly fills a tiny hole in the driver's door! On the pass. door this hole is filled with a stop or something. So the driver's side thingie/switch never gets engaged... Why is that hole there and why isn't it filled like the pass. side?

Thanks in advance, late Blazer knowledge is very scare in the Netherlands!

once you get into your vehicle and close the door, your light will stay on (courtesy light) for a little while then it'll go out after a bit unless you start your blazer right away then it'll go out then. After the night drive thing...that one has me. Do you have the dome over ride button on or off? If you have it on, then your courtesy light shouldn't come on at all. Hope I helped you out a bit.

Almost forgot....that long, skinny courtesy light activator....My blazer has one on the driver and one on the passenger. But there isn't any hole for it to go INTO though. There is however, some sort of 'plug' looking thing on the door where the activator makes contact with the door when it's closed. I don't know if that helps you out or not.

Yeehaa!!!
1+1 =3 sometimes.... Your replies got me thinking and I thougt that filling that hole would solve my problems!
So I did last night, deactivated the dome override and TADAAAAAAAAA... Everything works ok again!

Thanks for helping me out here! A garage would have charged me big time for this...
