Me personally I love the control of stick and the thrill, but I also love the automatic trans offroading and that is exactly why I am getting a hurst rachet shifter.

What a concept.  I hadn't thought of that.  It still means I'd have to do a conversion from the steering column shifter to the floor, but it's easier than doing a full auto-to-manny tranny conversion.

What are your suggestions on the type and the people to buy it from?

Well mine is also a column shifter. I took a look at it and it isn't going to be that hard. On mine I just popped out the cup holders on the center console and I am going to drill a hole for the cable to go through. Then that cable will hook into the shift lever on the transmission but at the same time activate the shifter on the column. So I am going to take that out and inturn I will be able to see what gear I am in from the dash and it is also next on the shifter. The one I am going to be getting is the hurst pro-matic 2 from my local autozone. It is a lot cheaper than like all of the b&m ones plus the hurst is perfect gear wise.

So you're not going to remove the column shifter?  I think I would, at least for the aesthetics of it.  May be harder to sell my Blazer later too...just a thought...

No I am going to remove the column shifter but I was trying to say I am going to keep the mechanism inside of the column so that you can she what gear you are in by either looking at the stock location (belown the speedo) and also the one that comes on the hurst shifter.
