popping noise

sometimes when im turning right or left or backing out off a parking stall and turn the steering wheel to right or left thers a load popping noise any ideas??? What it might be

I have the same problem with my '98. I found that when I topped off the zerk fittings for the suspension/steering it made a significant difference. However, as the years go by this solution is waning.

Ball Joints. The manual says not to turn the wheel all the way to the lock, but hey, we all do that anyway. This is the sound of your ball joints slowly dying. Eventually they will make a horrible popping noise when you go over bumps.
