Hello to all, and thanks for helping!!!!!!

I am new at this fourm and have been searching but couldn't find anything about my problem with
the Blazer First off it is a 1998 Blazer Ls 4door 4X with a 4.3 liter and auto trans.

Any way to get to the point the vechile runs great when you drive it like a grandma,
but when you even try to accelerate to get on the interstate , or actully any time you
acclerate quick the rpms go to 3500rpm and it will not shift untill you let off the gas.
I thought it was the transmission sliping till the rpms won't go over 4000rpm when this
happens.
Oh and After two weeks of this the C.E.L come on.
anything sound familar to anyone?
thanks allot
Zack

If the CEL is on, you really need to have the codes checked. It may help point you in the proper direction.

Do you run a K&N (or aftermarket oiled air filter)?

Is the correct transmission fluid in it to the correct amount? It might sound dumb, but some problems are caused by the simplist of things, like low fluid.

Ive got a 99 4.3 same setup. I had the same exact problem. The code it pulled (dont remember the number) ended up being "transmision short circuit B". I dont know much about trannies but its an electrical circuit component in the transmision. It should deffinately throw a code if this is the issue.

Had it replaced and everything was back to normal. Wasn't too cheap to have a shop do it. I had a lot of suspension work done at that time so i cant remember the exact cost but somewhere between 2-400.00.

IT could also be a failing torque converter.

Did you check the tranny fluid level?
What does the tranny fluid smell like, and what color is it?

Could be a bad trans sensor or worned-out wire at the ECM I don't think it would be your torqk converter but could also be your EGR valve although a bad EGR would have a jerking feel. Best is to pull codes first if any and go from there.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to check the wires at the ECM, Traces of rust or burn marks on wires
would be an indication that something is or is about to go wrong in this area. I had similar problems with my Impala SS a few years ago, my trans would only shift a very hight rpm because of one faulty wires.

Please let us know what you find.

I had the same problem a while ago and it turn out to be a "transmission (TCI) turbine sensor solenoid" and I had it change along with the fluids and filters
And that's it. It ran me 150 bucks.

You need to have your tranny computer diagnose...
