hey i have a 2000 chevy blazer 4dr 4x4 and i love off-roading i mainly do trails and the mud, i want to lift it but im straped for cash. i was going to do the 2 in sl and then 2 in bl, but then i saw someone with a 3 in lift, doea anyone know of a 3 in lift? i also want to upgrade the shocks i know rough country you can upgrade the shocks but i was thinking of going gas shocks is that possible for my blazer. I just need advice what would be the best way to turn my blazer into a sweet off-roading machine whatever you guys recomend. the only thing is that i had to replace my tires my old ones were down to the wire so i have brand new bf wrangler AT i think they are 29s so i dont want a lift that will need new tires. Thank you cant wait to here your advice

Any pics? The cheapest route is a body lift. But doesn't provide any ground clearance just tire clearance. And appearances of an off-roader. The tires you have now on stock rims? Are you having problems with clearance on trails? or just want a lifted vehicle? I've been looking at the rough country lifts myself. Just stuck waiting for cash and a new vehicle for the wife. There is a list of all the possible lifts for are vehicles with rough estimates for prices with them. with a 4 dr you have a little more options on what you can get than a 2 dr. hope this helps some

im ok on some trails but there are some where i here the bottom hit. yeah im on stock rims.

i went with heavier duty shocks. I picked up Rancho RSX shocks. Helped with mine. how much you looking to spend is going to be your determining factor on what you do. With the bigger tires you should get some more height out of your vehicle. when you bottom out is it in the front or rear of your vehicle?

rough county does make some nice affordable lifts..i was looking at them when i was gonna lift my 01

im not sure where it bottoms out i just here it, im not sure how much im looking to spend i got a quote for about 1100 to buy install the 2 in rough country lift, and then i wanted to get better shocks, im not sure i guess it really dosent matter it just means i have to save that much more lol.

I wouldn't buy anything from rough country. Known people with bad experiances and the 4 wheels shop here won't even install rough country anything because they don't trust them. Super lift makes a similar 2" lift I beleive the price is pretty close too. This kit is much better it comes with new upper control arms. If I remember correctly the RC lift you have to modify the stock UCA.

Seems like the rough country kits now come with upper control arms. I can't really knock that so much any more now but bottom line both of these lifts require you to crank the t-bars with new keys. The UCA will fix, for the most part, the ball joint wear but the half shafts are still at horrible angles. Over time you can expect the CV boots to tear or fall off completly ruining the CV. Not to mention rough country shocks, at least in the past have been complete junk. They wear out quickly. Either lift you will experiance a pretty obvious front end vibration due to the CV's at an extreme angle. going above 70 will probably scare you. The tires MAY start to wear unenvenly. Both of these kits are now almost identical. Alot of the rough country parts have superlift stamped in them.

If you want my opinion I would save your money and lift it right. Your going to spend $600 at least to buy one of these. You probably not going to be able to install it because you need a torsion bar puller to put the keys in. To get it installed will cost you ATLEAST another 300, not to mention the cv shafts and shocks you will inevidably end up replacing sooner or later, not to mention your compromising ride quality and your set of tires. All of this is providing your t-bars right now are good and won't sag after you put this kit on. I hate to sound like such a kill joy but torsion bar lifts really arn't worth the 1/2" of diff cleance you will gain from 1" larger tires. A 5" lift might be twice as much but it will acctually work and hold up to off roading. If you really want 31's get 2" of boddy lift. It's way cheaper will be a better bet in the long run.

Won't need a torsion bar puller. never found one at Autozone when I went to the junk yard. All you need is a pully remover or something similar And a big hammer and something to place on the end of the torsion bar to knock it out.

just make sure it is marked for when you reinstall it. I'm not under standing how the Ball joints will wear out quickly? Please explain in more detail how they will get wore out so quick. I know the cv shaft can be if the angle is to bad. But there has to be some sorta research on how to avoid those porblems with sky jacker and RC. Because if it is going to cause that much damage to ppls vehicles I don't see reputable companies selling these products. Especially Sky Jacker with how big they are. Just my .02

Thats the point of the new UCAs is to correct the ball joint problem the rough countrys had. Now they seem to come with new UCAs so the problem should be fixed. I don't have any proof of them actually working but my guess is they are superlift UCAs or a copy of them. Either way it should be corrected.

ok, i was talking to dad about how the 2 in lift can possibly cause damage to other parts and he said that i should just upgrade the shocks and if i really want to be higher just get a 3 in body lift cause if i save up for the 5 in im going to have to get bigger tires and wheels and i just got new tires so i really dont want to have to do that, so now that im not going to spend money for a lift what shocks out there are the best out there?

Bilstein(sp?) makes some of the best all around shocks out there. I have also heard good things about the dual tube edelbrock IAS shocks. Rancho also makes good shocks. I wouldn't both body lifting it. The only readon you body lift is to clear bigger tires the cheap way. If you arn't going to put bigger tires on it there really isn't a point to doing a body lift right now. It just causes clearance issues (from what I hear) with the fan and the shroud. Plus the frame will show like crazy and the tires you have now fit the way the vehicle sits now. A body lift won't gain you any extra ground clearance.

good point. i was talking to a friend a couple days ago and he told me that i should be able to put a chevy s-10 lift on it. is this true?
