hey yall i was wondering they said on some website that you have to use high octane fuel when running nitrous oxide to keep from having detonation or melting the engine, i would like to know, is this true.

Any power adder is going to make the engine work harder, the lower the octane, the more chance of detonation. Detonation = uh oh. I don't know 'bout y'all, but 93 is as high as we go here. When I get my Supra running right I'm gonna use 93 but with a couple gallons of 110 from the local speed shop.

But yeah, basically when you add power, higher octane fuel is a must

thanks for the info , but do any of you know how to set up an auxilary fuel cell system because if you could tell me the components it would be much appreciated..

you dont want to EVER run any low grade fuel..i have a zex 55-75 shot, and if youre going to run nitrous, it is counteractive to run crappy fuel. the oxygen that you breath contains molecules that make up everything, and the air, is one part oxygen, and the rest is whatever else is floating around. nitrous is two parts oxygen, so its like double the oxygen in the same amoutn of space, bonded together by one atom of nitrogen the nitrogen is what hold sghe oxygen together, and when it enters the engine, that molecular compound breaks down, and the 2 atoms of oxygen are released, and expand. causing a hotter burn due to increased chamber compression. the added oxygen also allows for a more efficient combustion. putting low octane gas doesnt make sense because the nitrous is increasing your engines need to octane, and by putting low grade gas, youre starving the engine, and thus limiting the usefulness of the nitrous.
