I don't mean to double post, but for some reason it wont let me comment on the tire size thread on DIY. . . so, are you guys sure that a 31 x 10.50 won't fit on a stock height blazer... I see evryone reccommending a 30 x 9.5...... thats not much of an increase from stock..... your average 235/75/15 actually sits 28.9 x 9.3 x 15...... your average 30 x 9.5 sits around 29.5 x 9.4 x 15....... it's almost the exact same size..... so let me ask you this again, with a 1 inch front crank, are you positive that a 31 x 10.50 will NOT fit on a blazer with little or no rubbing?

Where did they rub at? if it was at the front of the wheel well it was probably due to your aftermarket rims... they appear to have a more shallow backspacing on them.... this could cause the tire to catch the front of the wheel well. . . . My 235's are almost exactly the same dimensions and I can't even make them rub off road. .

W/ a 2" body and t-bar tweak my 31 10.5s rub only on the driver side frame behind the tire, and only on the driver side fender behind the tire. I need to get rims that will get the tire away from the frame and then i will need to get my funders cut down a bit, then i should be good

30x9.5x15 are the biggest that will fit with zero rub if you arent sagging, 31"+ you need atleast a 2" lift.

I tried 31x10.5x15 and they rubbed before I ordered my 30's.

I've got 30x9.5 on stock wheels and they are damn close. They don't rub when I'm driving but if I'm turning and the suspension flexes the right way while wheeling then they will rub
I'm pretty sure kellen rubs on the out side back of the front wheel when he makes turns. Thats where lowbackspace wheel/tires will rub.

yep, thats where. only in situations like you mentioned, close to full lock and the suspension flexes pretty good. back of the front wheel well.

well, then I guess i'll do the 30 x 9.50.... I'm going to crank the front 3/4" to 1" to try to eliminate the rubbing factor.... I was gonna do the wheel spacer thing, but after the alignment problems sledneck16 had.... i'm not going to. . . because i'm too lazy to remove them before the alignment..... i'm also afraid with the bigger tire, that the spacers would cause fender/wheel clearance problems when the suspension was flexed.... thanks for all your help guys...

Cranked or not it will still rub under certain situations. Like when your bottomed out.

SO apparently the numbers lie.... I went to walmart today and went back to the tire section.... I somehow found a 30x9.50x15 in a Liberator All Terrain.... i took it over to the BFG Land Terrain tires, found a 325/75/15(the tire I have) and sat them on the ground... side-by-side..... There is alot more size difference than I expected.... It appears to be way more difference than the online charts say it is... im definitely sold on a 30x9.50...... getting the BFG AT on saturday 10/28. . .

the 30x9.5 is an inch taller and 1/4 inch wider then the 235/75's.

my 30x9.5 ATs didnt rub at all. i bumped up to a 29x10.5, they rubbed. then went to a 31x10.5 after the cranked bars and my 2 inch bodylift. still can make then rub the tops of the fenders under full compression, but i also have 2wd rims. if i had them on the stock rims, they would probly not rub the tops of the fenders.

They don't rub because the off-road package has higher suspension obviously.... we're talkin bout stock height blazers

Old thread but Hey!
My 31x10.5 15s on my Lt 4 door Blazer rub on the right hand wheel arch something terrible. Even after trimming the bottom corner arch extension. Ive cranked the torsoin bars up max and still no joy.
fitted 1.25" spacers to the front no joy.
2" Body lift next, but looking at the space thats available while the wheel is turned, offroading the car would be a bad idea. Amnd as a previous post said the 10.5 tire rubs the chasis when turning.
31's are just too big for a stock bog standard car.
The only other option is chopping or moving the body forward on the chasis to acomodate
a decent size tire for off roading. But thats going to the extremes
Oh! the joys of improving a vehicle you really like.

Unless I am wrong. 30's should have no issues at all on a stock. I've Ran 30's for the last 4 years with no lift ect and not one rub. minus bottom out. now I went had a 2inch body lift put on and now have 31x10.5 and the only time I rub is when I am turning into a driveway ect they rub a little. Going off what I have been told I am trimming about 2square inch of metal off the fender well and I should be good. I did whack it back with a rubber mallet and helpped a bunch, but still need to trim a little.

To fit the 31".
Remove the spacers, they only make the problem worse.
Install the 2" body lift, that will get you the clearance you need.
Crank your torsion bars back down and save your suspensiona nd steering parts from early retirement.

The important factor here is width.  While a 31x9.50 () would have a few clearance issues, a 31x10.50 will have all the problems seen above.  My 30x10.50s rubbed untill I took the measures to stop that...so not all 30s fit fine.

Just trying to clarify
