Yeah and all we have ever used for catch cans was 5 gallon buckets. You basically pull the drain plug and catch what comes out with the bucket. The first few are pretty fast, but by the time the fourth one is filling, it has slowed down to the point where you can walk away for a few minutes. Only problem is there's still around 10 gallons of oil in there. Now this is the hydraulic oil on our tractors, but still. We've had to drain that out on too many occasions recently due to mechanical failures requiring tractors to be split in half...

I'm not sure, but it ain't cheap. But we're also talking about equipment that costs as much as 4 or 5 (depending on the tractor) Corvette Z06's.

My dad likes to take things to the limits. He snapped the 3 point hitch jack shaft which was a 5" diameter forged steel shaft. He sheared it in the heart of the shaft, not out at the end where the splines were. Now that was amazing, but required the tractor be split to replace the failed part (which weighed 90 some odd pounds!). That was about 6 months ago. Then just 2 months ago, that same tractor had its hydraulic booster pump go bad which required splitting the tractor in two again!

One things for sure, jackstands are ever present! You don't screw around when you have 10-15 ton (again depending on which tractor) apart.

jeez. my old man's truck holds about 10 quarts of oil and it's a pain changing the oil in it, i can't imagine what it'd be like to do that. :S
