more like 6" plus a 2" body for minimal trimming.....Im squeezing 31x10.5s into my blazer this coming spring, and I will be trimming even after my 2" body. If you only drive this on the road (which I doubt if you're getting 33s) then you might be ok, but as soon as your suspension starts flexing then you are going to get a world of rub.....

My brother has a 4dr 4x4 with a 2" BL, 1" tbar crank, shackles and 32x11.50 pro comp MT's. I highly doubt that you need another 6" of lift on top of that to clear another .5" of tire.

is your brothers a generation 1 or generation 2???? cause I think hanr3 runs either 32's or 33's on his gen I blazer with 3 inches of lift... you could squeeze it on there.... but it would run about like 31's do on stock height... it would rub like hell and do some serious fender damage.... now you can trim the fenders... maybe remove the inner fender and fit bigger tires... but with no body modification you have to have at least 6 inches of suspension to clear the 33's with absolutely no risk of body damage...... look at it this way.... procomp's website reccomends that you have a 5" lift to clear 33's on a silverado..... nw we all know the wheel wells are smaller on blazers... Pro Comp fitment chart something else you may want to look into before running 33's on your truck is This link..... your tranny is not properly geared for that large of a tire.... well, i dont wanna get into it... just read the link.... the truck will work, but will not perform at its best.....

It's a gen 2. I ran 31's on my 97 2dr stock, so did he on his 97 4dr. Rim selection (width and backspacing) matters more than pretty much anything else. Gearing depends on what you got from the factory. If you ended up with a GT4 (3.73), then the 33's aren't that bad. It's not a race car by any means, but it's manageable. That chart is pretty and all, but it doesn't really apply to the real world.

alright dude.... whatever.... there are several people in here that have had alot of trouble running 31's on stock suspension.... if it worked for you... great. . . . im not sure how you figure the chart doesnt apply to the real world? but oh well... whatever works for you.... sledneck has his tb's cranked and the 31's rub.. thats why hes also adding a 2 inch body lift..... but that probably doesn't apply to the real world either... so oh well... lets let the tire moderator comment on this.....

Sledneck rubs 'cus he has rims with a ridiculously low amount of backspacing. Those diamondbacks are something like 15x8 with 3.75" of backspacing, which stick out 3.25" more than stock on each side. If he had stock rims, he'd be fine. That chart doesn't even have a listing to S-10 blazers, so I fail to see how it applies? Stock Blazer on 31's: again: again: plenty of room:

the top pic appears to have a ZR2 tag on the blazer... 31's are stock on a ZR2... and the flexed pics obviously show that the tires are almost completely bottomoed out in the wheel wells.... you couldnt turn those tires without them rubbing... sledneck tried the 31's on with his stock rims once judging by his previous posts..... if 33's wont fit on a silverado without 5" added, they wont fit on a blazer.... thats how the chart applies.... the irritating part is that you are telling a guy (with a legit question...) that something will work on his blazer..... it wont work in all applications... maybe your brothers truck is different than all of the other blazers produced, or maybe he doesnt take it off road... the fact of the matter is, to fit 33's on a non-zr2 blazer you have to have a minimum of 5-6 inches suspension to have absolutely 100% no clearance issues....

Take a look again, it's not a ZR2. No flares, no widened stance, the sticker reads "ZM6" The ZR2 package is more than a sticker. That was my last truck, it didn't rub unless you jumped it. It may look like it 'cus of the angle of the camera, but it's not even close to rubbing. I don't doubt that you need close to 5" of lift to fit 33's, i never said you didn't. My reply saying that you shouldn't need much more than he has (which is 3" over stock in the front) was to the guy who said you'd need a 6" lift and a 2" lift. Believe what you guys want. It's your trucks. BTW, this is a ZR2 (in case you need an example)

i know what the zr2 package consists of.... now tell the guys on here with fender damage that 31's dont rub... hell, i think hanr3 has damage from a 30"......... i seem to have misunderstood you..... i thought you were saying that you didnt need a 6" to clear 33's.... you said you dont need 8" worth of lift to clear them..... you are right... you only need 6"..... anyways...... thats cool... if you can fit 31's..... more power to you.... I worry about my 30's sometimes... thats why i'm cranking tb's a bit..... but back to the subject at hand...... 33's need about 6" of lift to clear.... problem solved...... here is a 2 door with the trailmaster 5" system and 33x12.50's

why cant we all just get along seriously though, I have shackles and a pretty heavy t-bar crank, and my rims are +12mm offset on a 15x8 inch rimj which is I believe roughly 4.5" backspacing---not that bad. If I were to run 31's on my stock rims they WOULD still rub, but only when the wheels were cranked and the suspension was compressing---very common in offroad situations. Jigg--is it possible that your old blazer was a "highrider"? its the same height as a ZR2 but it doesnt have all of the options--no flares, big brakes and such.... right now at full crank my STOCK tires 235/75/15 will rub on my new rims--but only at full crank hitting a pretty hefty bump. it all depends on how you drive your truck and what you plan to do. if the ONLY thing you want to put on your truck is tires--the find yourself a nice set of 29's or small 30's. otherwise, you're looking at tolerating a bit of rubbing or doing some more work to your truck. Jigg---dont mean to be a jerk or anything, but you need to understand that we like to try to keep this site very mature--ie no lashing out and the like. just dont try to rile ol' a-tack up---hes an ornery fella a-tack----why you pickin on the new guys buddy!?!?! lol anyways there i go being the stereotypical canadian "peacekeeper wuss" --so im gonna go crawl back to my igloo and curl up with my axe and dream about cutting down the next row of trees.....wow im up too late

Same thing, just body colored flares. My truck was not a ZR2 (nor a highrider), and neither is my brother's (it's a 4dr after all) When did i lash out or be immature? And your stock tires rub because of your rims. Trust me. Your rims, at 8 inches wide and 4.5" bs stick out 2.5" more on each side than stock. That's a lot. The ZR2 guys usually don't go much less than 15x8 with 5" of backspacing, and that's usually on the lifted ones.

Ok Lets calls it a draw on this one. As I read in an earlier post from aways back the factory was never very strict on the hieghts of the blazer or ZR2's for that matter so what works for one just might not work for another. Only thing you can really do si read alot and get brave and try something. Why is it all the Canadians are peacekeepers HAHAHAHAHA

Trailmaster 5" lift kit, and Superlift 6" Fit system both recommend 32x11.5" tires on 15x8 with thier lift kit. I bet you could get 33" on there with the factory wheels. Rear of the truck is not a problem. The area where the tire rub is the rear of the front fenders. Wheels with less then facotry 6" backspacing push the tire further out, and hence further into the rub zone. Will it happen all the time, no. Can you get by with less lift, yes. Depends on how much rubing your willing to tolerate. When I say rub, I don't mean all the time. You can put a 31" tire on the stock wheels and drive it till the tires fall off without too much trouble in the concrete jungle. You may or may not groove your tire, or you may or may not rip the inner fender bolt out. But that doesn't mean the tire wont do damage, especially if your anywher other then the conrete jungle. If that is your extent of driveing, then yes you can fit 31" under your truck with minimal rub. The difference between a 31" tire and a 30" tire is 1/2". Is it worth the hassle for a 1/2"? I will never recommend t-bar cranks. When you crank them you are reducing the amount of suspension flex. Your putting the suspension system under more stress, leading to early retirement. Yes, there are numerous ways to make bigger tires fit. However each has its plus and minus.
