I have a 2000 Blazer 4x4. It's an automatic transmission. Whenever I press any of the 4wd buttons whether it be 4hi, 4lo, or automatic 4wd, I stay in 2hi. I just bought this thing used in August. The 4wd worked fine then. Now that we have had our first ice storm where I live I find myself getting stuck. In my neck of the woods rear wheel drive just does not cut it. The 4hi and 4lo buttons never quit flashing when pushed and it never engages 4wd. Can someone please help. I can't afford to go to a mechanic and winter is here hard. Without fixing my blazer I won't be able to work or do anything. In other words my life depends upon solving this problem and quickly. Can anyone help me?

If the lights only flash and it goes back to 2wdr I would suspect the t-case motor. Like a $300 part.

Going from 2wdr to 4hi can be done pretty much at any time under 45mph.
Going into 4lo can only be donw while in neutral and going less then 5mph.

Get the codes scanned to know for sure.
