I can't tell the induction on the first one (looks like possibly a TBI motor or even a newer CSFI motor), but the first one is a CPI motor. Your's is a CSFI motor with TB sticking out the top.

ORIGINAL: swartlkk They're both 4.3L v6s if I'm not mistaken. Yep, you got that right. Long story short. I bought the '93 S10-Blazer with a spun #1 rod bearing. I bought a non-running '91 with 190,000 miles on it for parts. I took off what I wanted and a guy wanted what was left. Told him I wanted the engine, he said he would pull it in trade for the truck. Rather then go through the trouble he gave me another 4.3L he pulled from a fullsize cuase it was strong and he was junking the truck, but wanted the engine. The fullsize truck 4.3L is from a '85 truck and has been rebuilt at least once, it has 85,000 mils on the rebuild. It has a 2 piece rear main seal and gas pump in the block. In '86 GM went to 1 piece rear main seals in all 4.3L engines. Needless to say the oil pan fom the '93 wont fit on the '85 block, and hte '85 oil pan won't clear the front differential in the 4x4 '93. It requires a little work to make it fit. Last pic posted above. Everything from the '93 block will swap over to the '85 block. I did have to drill and tap on accessory bolt hole in the passengers side head. There hve been a few other special things. Like a plug in the head that won't come out and requires a special tool to remove (which no-one sells except the truck tool dealers like Snap-On), The torq bolts holding the oil filter adapter are stucka nd twisted up my torq bit, now I need a Craftsman set. I could go on, but you get the idea. I just got back from picking up the oil pan. Needs a little grinding and paint to make it look pretty. I plan to be installing hte engine this coming weekend. I'll start a swap thread eventually.

Your's is a CSFI motor with TB sticking out the top. The '85 originally came with a 4 barrel carb. I gather during the rebuild it was converter to a TBI system, and yep the '93 is a CPI engine. Heres a pic of the TBI intake. and a close up of hte CPI unit. Last one, the rest will be in the thread when I post it. This is the '85 with the valve covers and intake removed. Nice and clean in there, hardly any carbon build up.
