Heh, I hit 110mph in my 03' spectra ( governed ), it probably took 1:30sec or so to hit it, you won't catch me doing that ever again, talk about scary sh*t, and with no brakes, LOL!

I hit about 95mph in my blazer (00 4X4 4dr) and while it still felt fine I have no urge to go faster.

I have been somewhere in the 120mph range in my blazer. You can find a used hypertech programmer on ebay for around 150 bucks. With it you can change your top speed limiter to 128mph.

I live in the middle of  nowhere and this was on a straight stretch miles long. My friend in front of me had a v6 mustang that cuts out at 120mph. If i hadnt run out of road I could of went around him. My blazer still had a little more left to.

I know this was not smart at all but I had to try it once.

Thats depends on what tires they were equipped with from the factory. Z/28s with z rated tires and SSs have no limiter.

Nope they are 162.

Then that was a factory freak, because the F-bodies were always angry that the W-Bodies (family platform, pretty much) was only 2MPH slower from factory, excluding the z28/ss models, THOSE may have been governed at 162mph. All other tires were NOT rated for that speed, and were governed according to the tire capability.

I was to that speed behind the wheel of only one f-body and I many more as passanger.  I concider myself very knowladgeable on the 4th gen V8 f-bodies mainly 98+.  The speedo only goes to 155.  The speedo stops there and the tach keeps going.  I know the speedo is off at those speeds but its not 35mph off.  I know for a fact with absolutely 100% certainty that the 98+ V8 F-bodies were limited to 162.  Below is a site if you dont beleive me, also troll around ls1tech.com for a little bit.  Im talking about 98+ V8 6 speed Fbody I could really care less about the V6 model.

Ok, I love my 1995 blazer 4.3L stock. I have had my speeds above 100mph it happened while running the AC. I was clocked from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Dept at 110mph, I was on a main route, racing my friends (lol), Since then nothing but troubles from my engine!!!!!Wont do it ever again. It was fun, and yes I did beat  2 Honda's with summit racing chips in them..lol...Gotta love that Blazer!!!

Yeah what they said/\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ I would almost think you can talk a tech a GM dealer into raising your top speed limiter...except he would think your crazy.  So it may be hard to talk him into it.    I did a buck thirty six in my turbo satty @ 5600 rpm, still wanted to go faster.... i chickened out. I built it hence i slowed down lol.  So yeah you could put a stand alone in like i have in that car.  I moved my redline up to 8k on it from 6500rpm thats my speed limeter....but thats like 175 mph which the air will stop me far b4 that.  Stand alones have other gains like in tuning in such for more power across the board, food for thought.

It just seems like such a waste to put a governor on a motor this powerful. I was making my way home one time as fast as I could, which I know is stupid but it'd been almost a year since I had been home. When my Blazer hit 95 it just SLOWED and it still had plenty more to give. It handled fine up to it. I plan on upgrading pretty much everything on it anyways as the years go by so I'm not too worried about the tires and such.

Yah know it is a waste in a truck like yours.....however not necisarily in mine.  I don't see the purpose in going that fast in a Blazer, but and Extreme maybe.  Its a shame there was 6, or 7 kids die because they were driving dumb, jumped there blazer at 60 mph, it caught fire and exploded in mid air .  Thats was a rd right behind where i work, they came to rest because it smacked a tree. Plane and simple all use your brain not your balls.  I don't always care about hurting me, but you don't want to be responsable for killing someone else......    Non the less  FAST is FUN ...use your dome tho...

Of course, I've seen too many people die making mistakes. Most of the time I'm sensible, but the few times I act stupid, I make sure there's nobody around. Like you said, I don't worry about me, it's others.

The Hypertech doesn't remove those limiters, it lets you raise them, but not remove them.

The governor is located on the drivers side of the tranny. To remove it you simply pop the cover off, careful of the rubber seal and have a catch can handy, it will leak some tranny fluid. If you have a floor shifted t-case, you will have to remove the linkage. Then the governor slides right out. Not sure why you want to remove it. It is needed to control the tranny shifting. Without it you will never get out of 1st gear.
