Not any problem or indication of problem until I went out and went to leave work this evening.  When I turn the key, everything powers up as normal.  Battery hot, guages, lights, radio, horn...everything works.  When you turn to start, like vehicle was in gear (automatic).  Nothing.  No click,  nada.

I have searched forum and found a lot of comments about ignition switch, neutral safety switch, cable to starter, etc.  I checked fuses and swapped relays, nothing.  I moved the shifter and tried to start in various positions, nada....Are there fusible links on this model?  Where?  How likely are they to go bad?  Blazer still at work..... On most all of the searches I ran, I don't recall seeing anyone replying as to what their problem was.

I just hate to have the thing towed to a shop, but I live too far away for a tow home.

I have a Haynes book but it does not show wiring diagram for starting circut on 98 vehicle.  Anyone have a diagram of the starting circut?  I may just have to suck it up and have it towed to the shop across the street.....Not happy about that.....

I realize that there are many things that could cause this, just hoping for a quick solution.

Thanks,

Terry

It's pretty much a 2 person job to check the starter. If you have a test light you can check for power to the purple solenoid wire on the starter as a second person tries to crank it over. If you have power to the purple wire, tap the starter with a hammer or a block of wood while trying to crank it.
It might just be sticking brushes.

    Thanks for the Diagram!

It was the starter.  I am old school and have not replaced a starter on a vehicle in a LONG time.  In the past, a starter would give you indications that it was getting ready to go south.  I am told that this is no longer the case.  The just go out.

At least I am up and going!
