i have a pretty basic question on a set of rims that I am looking at.  I wanted to make sure the tires I have would fit on them, else I am going to look at some others.  The tires I have are Pirelli 255/70/18 and the rims I was looking at are 18x9.5.  I believe the correct width the rims take is 275, but I was wondering if it would be ok since it is close.

Thanks in advance.

Also, with this width, I want to make sure they won't be sticking out of the sides.  I have 16x7.5 on it right now and it is flush with the side of the truck.  I am hoping these would be the same.

Thanks again.

In case anyone else is wondering, I did find out that the tires will fit from 8.0-10.0 rims.

It shouldnt be too long and I will have pics posted.  It might take a bit though since I have a 4wd.  I was told that I may need spacers behind each rim, or at least the rear tires.  I don't really know for sure either way, so we'll see what happens.  I will post them up once all is done.

In the meantime, anyone with any explanation on spacers and if they are needed or for what reason, would be appreciated.

Thanks.

They MIGHT be needed unsure on that one, But usually if you look down the side of your truck your back tires are inward about an inch compared to the front tires. The spacers will bring your back tires out to match the front. Alot of guys(and Girls) have them on thier truck.

I see, I also talked to a friend of mine who works at a tire center and he said the same thing.  He also mentioned that it will also depend on the thickness of the rim.  Too thick and the tire will rub in the inside of the wheel well.

All things aside, I think I am going to space it out a tad to match the front.  I think it will look way better.

Thanks and I will post pics once its all done.
