This part is under the battery tray. And yes, its easier to get to if you do remove the battery and tray.
If you bumped it hard enough to knock out the bumper, I would check this and the line to the front axle (to lock/unlock the axle). I tore mine down again to do some more front end work. So I can take pictures of what I can for you and post them.
You also might want to check the vacumme check ball, if you slammed it hard enough, you might have cracked that. That is on the drivers side and is just a ball (6" dia) with one or two vacumme lines attached to it.

If your encoded motor you can hear clicking, I don't think it would be bad. Most of the time if these are bad, they wont click, there will be just nothing at all. You also will want to check the plug to the actuator diaphram. And trace the line from there also to the front axle.
