Ok.  The gas gauge on my Blazer is irratic.  It jumps around all the time, and is quite annoying because I never know for sure how much gas is in the tank.  So my question is how/what do I do to fix this problem of mine?  It's been like that for a year or so and the fuel pump is fine, as far as I know....  Thanks!

After I posted, I googled crazy blazer gas gauge and I found this website.  It said the in order "to replace the sending unit the fuel tank will have to come out."  I found a AC-Delco fuel sending unit on eBay for $40 shipped.  How difficult is it to fix this problem?  Thanks.

$800.  Wow.  I don't think it needs to be done now.  Does a crazy gas gauge mean I have other problems with my fuel system that I am unaware of?  KLBlazer-Was it worth it just to fix that darn gauge?  lol

I don't regret it one bit! Couldn't be happier that I got it fixed! Before it was a big headache and pain in the ass and very frustrating.

The fuel tank need to come out of the truck, then the sending unit/ fuel pump module needs to come out, then the sensor just gets replaced on the module. It is not that bad of a job but you will want a helper escp.  if you have allot of gas in the tank.  Recently GM started to supply just the fuel level sensor, because of the high replacement rate.  They are pretty cheap, but if you pay someone to do the labor it can still be a couple hundred dollars.  Korey

You can add me to this list. I'm with Paddle_grl...reset trip meter and fill up no later than 260 (I've made it into the 280s, but was very nervous). I'm going to live with it until (if?) the fuel pump goes out.

280? Best I have ever done was 230 and that included stalling twice to get to the gas pump lol. People behind me got pretty mad after the second time...

The scariness starts at 350 for me...seriously, I'm beginning to think I have a freak Blazer.  Just passed the 71K mark and better gas mileage than anyone else has posted

lol wait until you have subs and watch the gas gauge go nuts

I think it has to do with the meter in there and if you are on uneven ground it will be different everytime

i'd say it's worht it to do it yourself by dropping the tank and then taking out the sending unit fuel pump module.  then replacing the sensor on the fuel module.   doing this is more of a convience to know more acurately how much gas you have in your tank but i think it's def worth it. also by doing it your self it'll be alot cheaper

I used to get about 230 miles/tank.  We put new fuel injectors lines on it, a  few months ago.   Now I get about 260.   Looong interstate trips, I can get 300-315.  20MPG is about the best I've ever gotten.  Usually 13/15 city, 16/20 highway.

My 97 had the guage go out several years ago and dealer quote was $500+ to fix.  Used the trip odometer for fill up at 300-340 which was usually 17-18 gallons.  Then abourt 6 months ago fuel pump went out and after an $600+ replacement of the fuel pump module, my gas guage now works.  It's irritating, but the trip odometer is a cheap remedy until you get motivated to pull the tank, or like me, replace a faulty fuel pump.  Nice to know GM is now providing the fuel guage module.

I have this problem, but it is only when in park, and mine is a 2001. I'm pretty sure this is normal, b/c when you put it back in drive it fixes itself

It's not normal... Amusing, but not normal, lol, might be something a little loose, but I wouldn't worry about it until it's perma-fritzed.

Vagnozzi, you need the fuel level sensor in the tank also.  I have not figured out why it happens only in certian gears, but it does, I have replaced many of them that do that, and it has fixed them all.  Man you guys getting over 260 miles to a tank, I wish I could get that!!!  KLBlazer07, I wish I could even get to 300, but 370 HOLY COW!!!!!!  that is amazing!!  Why don't you bring your Blazer to me so I can check her over and copy the results!!  When I had my 92 S10 with 4.3 5spd, I averaged 25 mpg, and about 380 miles per tank, but not with my Blazer!!  I get 16 mpg, and what amazes me though is when I tow my pop-up I only fall about 1 to 1.5 mpg.  So I really cannot complain about that.  Korey.

It sure is nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem!  It not only does that, but it also gets sluggish sometimes.  Especially when it's been sitting, like at a restaurant or store or getting gassed up.  I swear I could get out and push and it would go faster!
