It is alluminum, and IDK...I have seen aftermarket air-lockers installed in the full-size (silverado) front diffs, which are also alluminum, but they are bigger than the t-trucks.

how would a lock make any diffrence in the stress on the housing? the internals, ring gear and carrier and so forth sure, but the housing, it just holds all the stuff inside, it doesnt play a role in actualy moving the vehicle.

Well, there's gotta be a reason why you can't find any... lol

What's the size/specs and whatnot for the front diff, anyway?

Aaron,

You are correct about the H.O. for Blazers/Jimmys/Bravadas & Safaris/Astros.  This engine appeared in 1992 and 1993 and was a W code used a balance shaft, roller cam shaft, different heads, and Central Port Injection as well as all H.O. trucks came with a larger diameter Y pipe!  Want to hear a shocking thing.  All this better technology all derived off the 262 v6 marine motor engineers!  I got lots of good info about H.O. and 262 V6 CPI MPI TBI Holley Vortec Typhoon/Syclone motors.  I used to have a '98 S10 SS with a Stepside bed and was way too into cars at the time.  Anyways, through that time period I did my homework on the 4.3L Vortec Motors!

Cheerz
