Turtle Wax ICE isn't really a wax, it is a paint protectant and a VERY good, long lasting one at that, but it doesn't fill in the fine scratches like a wax does. I have ICE on my Bravada right now and it is SO easy to wash that truck right now it isn't even funny. A simple wash and dry makes the truck look like the day that I applied the ICE way back before winter. As far as waxes go, it was a difficult choice between Gold Class & NXT from Meguiar's, both in paste form. I ultimately have to choose NXT because on my Bonneville they both provided the same shine and equal life, but the NXT was SO much easier to apply & remove.

Gotta go with NXT, in combination with ICE as a touch up, it's unbeatable IMO anyaway.

I'm speaking from experience using ICE. It is not a wax as typical waxes are defined by their constituant parts. It is more like Liquid Glass than any other wax that I have used. It is a polish/protectant, not a true wax. quote:
Source: Turtlewax website - Turtle Wax® ICE™ is a clear wax formulated with completely new technology that blends silicone and hydrocarbon polymers to provide extraordinary shine and durability. Now they state that it is a clear wax, but being made of blended silicone and hydrocarbon polymers, I'd call it more of a paint protectant than a wax. It is very comparable to Liquid Glass. The main reason why I say it isn't in my definition of a wax is because it does not fill slight imperfections in the paint (ie. swirl marks) like a typical wax will. Now given it's polishing properties, it will tend to remove some of the very slight imperfections, but trust me on dark paint (all I have is black), it does not produce the upclose perfection that a true 'wax' will give you. From say 10ft away, they are indistinguishable, but get up close and I can see a definite advantage to NXT wax. One thing that I am interested in trying is the paste form of ICE.

Thanks Kyle...I think I'll try the NXT. That black is not forgiving at all is it? I love the looks when it is spotless, but man everything makes it look dirty...

by far the liquid clay bar by ice is amazing stuff it stopped my oxidation on the spot brought out the real shine in my paint its so easy too i rinse with cool water then apply the liquid clay bar cause its a car wash and wax in one then after rinse again towel dry the white residue comes through then follow that with the detail spray by ice with a terry towel and man does it shine like no other by far the best ever first time result its good stuff

Is the NXT wax that much better than the basic 3 step system ?

i was really impressed with the eagle one nano wax on my camaro. i had a two tone and it got rid of all the swirl marks and fine scratches really well. i tried it when it first came out it was free with a mail in rebate and you got the applicator and a microfiber cloth. i like it alot and it also smells really nice, ... kinda orangey.

TheBrettster, I have used quite a few different 3 step products and can say that when a 3 step system is done correctly (very time consuming), I don't think that there are many economical single step products that can beat them. I used to use the 3 step professional line from Meguiar's and that was amazing stuff. Only problem was that it would take me atleast a full day to detail my car when done right. If you have some paint damage (either swirls, bird dropping stains, or sap stains), then a 3 step process is the way to go. However, now with the clay bar, I think that you can get very close to the same results with less time by doing a wash, clay bar, wash, and NXT or Gold Class wax. Zygoat, Eagle One Nano wax is another good wax. It is more of a polymer coating like the NXT wax with very little if any pure carnuba. Like NXT, its application and removal is super easy and it does have a nice depth of shine. One thing that I did not like about it was it's life over a winter. Where the TurtleWax ICE has lasted literally all winter without reapplication of any kind, my experience with Eagle One Nano wax required atleast one reapplication during the winter. The same is true about NXT and Gold Class for that matter. So for me, it's ICE during the winter because of it's durability, but I think I'll stick to clay bar and NXT for the summer! And other than the ICE (freebie), I don't use anything but paste waxes now because of their durability. I'm really looking forward to trying a good clay bar treatment and some of the new ICE paste polish. See how that looks when done.

Yea i take a whole day on the outside and about half of a day on the inside. I wash , clay ,wash , 1 , 2 , 3 , buff or use pinnacle souveran. My paint is in perfect condition but the plastic is not much. It has alot of wax build up on it. Whats the trick , i heard an sos pad works wonders. Also its somewhat faded, i want to do something that is going to last. Any ideas ? I went ahead with the two long molding pieces on the rear window, sanded them with cutting gel.
