v6 mustang will not bet a v6 blazer. or atleast shouldnt. i completely kill my friends 35th anniversary mustang. i dont know what they run the 1/4 in but i ran a 15.7 dead stock with larger tires and no traction till the end of second /beginig of 3rd.(yes i tried to let off but it kept spinnng and i launched at a conservative rpm to try and prevent wheel spin). but 14.2 in a stocker, yea ok i wish. blazer cant come close to that e.t. with out alota help. my friends mustang isnt governd at 85 either. he has broken 100 with it also. another kid around town has a v6 ustang auto car and he ran a 15.97 with just a muffler put on it.

1999 Ford Mustang Convertible V6 8.6 16.5 thats what i found on the internet. mmench do you have a manual or a auto because with a auto im having troubles believing that time my silverado runs about a 15.6-.7 and i know my truck is alot faster then my blazer was. but with a manual im not sure i have not driven one and im sure you get closer gear ratios and a better launch with a manual so i suppose its possible. do you have any mods? Larger tires also slow you down in the long run but will give you better traction off of the line the thing about it is the blazers i have driven and owned could never spin enough to benefit from larger tires anyways then again i did have an auto.

i have a manual with the 3.42 gears. and yes it was dead stock when i ran it... ill look around in my shop and find the slips. i know i have em somewere because i just took them outa the blazer a few weeks ago. when i ran it the stock air filter and everything was still in and i even left the spare tire, jack , and all that kinda goodies in too. i launched at 25-2700 rpm's spun, yanked second, spun, peddled and still spun hit third , chirped and wheel hopped. held it in 3rd till the traps and went across the line at about 5200rpm's in 3rd. i have had lots of people come up to me after a run and ask if its a 5 spd and all that and the like my burnouts too for some reason. i guess they dont expect it when i go sideways in the waterbox and smoke em in second or third if i can cath it with out stoopping the tires

i havent found it yet but i am still lookin for my slip.. its some were mixed in with my parts for my other project cars. i also may have a video of it. i surprised myself though too with the times i run. i have a boy around town that wants to race me in his S10 4wd auto. he weighs the same as my blazer and the only real difference is the drive train. also he has the a/c removed with an idler pulley in its place, and either 3.73 or 4.10 gears. we plan on goin to the track friday if weather permits so ill try on a video of that too. im curious who is gona win. what do yall think

hmm... i have a 1998 mustang v6 and my blazer wont touch it... my silverado 327V8 will pull it off the line and beat it to 50 mph.... but after that its all over... i also definitely outran a 1996 camaro RS with the mustang and the silverado... v6 blazers are by far the slowest v6 vehicles I have driven, next to v6 full size pickups... blazers are very heavy and dont push much HP for the engine size... 190 for a 4.3L is weak..... they are not shy in the torque department however.... im not trying to argue, but the only way a stock blazer outran a stock mustang is if it was an off-road race, the mustang had engine trouble, or there was a 12 year old girl driving the mustang,,,,,,,, just my $0.02

That's to be expected... The 'stang is a good 1000lbs lighter than a Blazer.... Less of a difference if you're a 2 door 2wd, but not enough to make up the difference... You MIGHT get lucky, if the 'stang has a tall rear-end and the Blazer has 3.73's or shorter gears...

well i know from my own experience that a 5sp 2dr 2wd blazer can beat a v6 5spd mustang. i have done it over and over again. maybe its my driving skills that help me out. after all i have been involved in cars and racing for a long time and i do admit i am a better driver than mechanic. the very only reason i was ever passed by the mustang was that i shut off at like 98 or somthing like that and he doesnt. aglly like to doubt peoples reayain this was stock blazer versus mustang with a cat back. you guys really like to doubt people

i would say that the mustang driver(s) were not as experienced at driving on a manual transmission as you are.... because with two good drivers and no mods for performance a blazer will not outrun a v6 mustang... lets take two vehicles a 1999 2dr 2wd blazer and a 1999 v6 mustang... Blazer: Curb Weight: 3,563 lbs.. Horsepower: 190 @ 4,400RPM Torque: 250 @ 2,800RPM Power to weight ratio: approx. 1hp:18.75lbs stock gear ratio in this blazer is 3.08 with an available 3.42 limited slip (dont believe me, research it on www.cars.com the 4x4 models were stock 3.42's with an optional 3.73 limited slip) Mustang: Curb Weight: 3,069 lbs. Horsepower: 190 @ 5,250RPM Torque: 220 @ 2,750RPM Power to weight ratio: approx. 1hp:16.15lbs stock gear ratio is 3.27 the mustang weighs 500lbs less and not to mention is geared for the speed not the torque/towing that a blazer is geared for.... with good drivers, a blazer victory just isnt in the cards....... if the blazer had closer gearing it would be more likely. I do not doubt that a blazer can easily take a mustang off the line, but the stang will gain back that 1/4 car length and then some by the time you reach the next redlight... the most likely scenario for a bowtie win would have to be a 3.42 limited-slip blazer with a better driver or a 2dr 4x4 3.73...

well i do have the 3.42 gears and 2wd. i guess the only way to really show the results is on a video. my friend is in PA at college right now but ill send him a shout and we will get a video for ya. his driving isnt any type of spectacular show but he isnt any slouch. .... all we do around my friends is build and race. also i just found my time slips for some of my 15.7 runs and when i get to work tomorrow ill scan them and post em

With a 2wd, 2 door and 3.42's, definitely a lot closer... You're guaranteed a jump off the line (depending on your size of tire...) but the 'stang should have better top end power...

Don't bother with a video unless you're at a track.

ty... i hope i run a s well as i used to run... about 5 months ago my distrubutor broke and my resonator completely melted shut. ill take a pik of it a post it , it is really sick looking and i havent seen anything like it before. but anyway when all that happened i think the resonator melting caused me to get a few burnt valves. the egt was so high that it put blisters in me just by sticking my hand behind the exhaust. and i dont race on the street anymore. i used to alot but i really dont feel like getting in trouble anymore. plus i seen alota bad things happen.
