is there any way to make it so that when all the topics in a secotion are read the forum is automaticaly marked as read? as it stands now i have to click the "mark as read" button for every section when i am done. is this because i have cookies and the like diabled in my browser?

I have never used the mark as read or worried about that feature. If you are done with a section, you can click on the 'mark forum read' link at the top of each of the forum sections... Is that what you are talking about? Once you are done reading all of the new threads, you shouldn't see anything in there that is new anyhow...

yea thats what im talking about but for some reason when i am done reading them they are still yellow untill i click the button

What happens if you refresh the page? Do you just click the back button to go back out to the main forum section? If so, your browser isn't refreshing the page.

*EDIT* - I just tried that and it worked in the individual sections, but not out at the main page... I'll see what Patrick knows about this.

yea thats the exact problem i am having, reguardless of weather or not i refresh the page. and it is only on the main page, you nailed it.
