Hey everyone:

I've been reading this forum for quite a while but never joined because most of my questions got answered by others (selfish reason). I just made the move to the DC area to get experience in politics and my 95 S-10 Blazer is killing me....

On the way my EGR went out and was replaced by two interesting gentleman in the middle of nowhere. My exhaust was already basically shot, but on the 2500 mile drive its now disconnected from the cat. (loud)

I get into town and my EGR gets some more carbon in it and starts the rough idling where you have to keep it in neutral at lights and rev it to keep it going. I got some mechanics to clean it out and it ran fine. This was three days ago. I'm drivng today and it starts doing the exact same thing.

My true question is in three parts:

1. Can you truely get all the carbon crap out without an overhaul?
2. Do the filter gaskets you get for the EGRs actually stop this from happening.
3. Does my cat that is just billowing the exhaust since its not connected to the muffler have anything to do with this?

Thanks in advance for any support.

best,

Hostile
