thanks for the comments guys--no how-to on trimming---basically just cut a little at a time until you dont rub....basically

and of course now my 4x4 doesnt work--posi-lok cable so no vacuum or actuator problems--think i may have pooched something inside the diff.  going to be a while before i fix it  might as well wait until i re-gear to drop it. to be continued...

Nice job.
I went about it a little different.
I got a free set of brand new 285/75R16 Cooper SST tires. 33"x11.5"
That meant I needed 16" wheels that fit the 5on4.75 lug pattern. Picked up a used set of Firebird wheels for like $70.
Bought a 3" body lift kit someone never installed for $50
Trimmed the fenders front and back.

I'll have to post up some pics tonight. They aren't on this pc.

Looks good!
However it looks like you still have some rubbing issues on the back of the fender.

Got any room left to trim, and how close are you to the firewall?

actually I've trimmed more now--i know its hard to tell--but theres less fender under there-i promise lol!

the only place im rubbing now is on the frame when i turn, and i may end either building up the steering stops or i might even notch the frame a little.

other than that--i love my truck!!  I am reasearching a solid axle swap for the future and i've decided to go coils and later upgrade to coilovers, dana 44 front, ford 8.8" rear, 4.10 gears, aussie locked rear and open front until i decide what type of selectable locker to go with--oh yea

I'm going to keep this truck as low as possible--bigger isnt always better (unless its tires)

Haha, hellz no you would get it all dirty.  Thanks I like the engine too, would like it more once its running.  I also have 33's on my non zr2.  Thankfully the bushwackers take care of that.

Trust me it was hard convincing myself to spend almost $500 on some plastic.  I've also got the 3"BL, rearched springs, air shocks, wheel spacers, and will crank the tb's.  Hopefully I don't have any rubbing problems when wheeling in mall parking lots.

Only way to stop rubbing the frame is to widen the stance. Or dont crank the steering wheel as far.

For my 33" I did a 3" body lift and trimmed the fenders front and back. Tehn put the chrome trim ring back on to cover my trim work. Hard to tell unless your looking for it. Of coasre it helps to that its a POS and full of rust. We'll actually the rust has fallen off and its just full of holes where the rust used to be.

I am curently in the process of collecting parts for my upgrades on hte '87.
I have a 4.3L sitting in the garage that I want to rebuild. End of month I pick up a Chevy front 10bolt axle for the SAS. I am also going coils instead of leaf springs. Figure on using Ford coil buckets from a 150 or Ranger. Plus I am picking up a SM465 at teh end of the month too. Then I need a couple of t-cases. I want to make a doubler out of one, and will need a drivers sdie drop case for the alxe.
Just takes time nad money. Time I got.

Sure looks like his truck.  Not sure what happened to it, but he hasn't even logged in since 9/07...

That is his truck.  Stolen and stripped slightly.  Found and I think still dealing with insurance.  Apparently there is a group of natives that are very well known for stealing vehicles and stripping a few parts then burning the cars.  His car was found on the reserve where there are tons of other vehicles either stripped or burned.
