1997 Jimmy SLT (No Auto 4wd...only hi and low)

So it goes like this. Switch would click and somtimes flash once but no engagement...did this for both high and low. I reset the power. After power reset, the light would flash a few times, and click, but then turn off. After it detected the fault however many required times (25?) it went back to it's old single click and occasional flash. Keep in mind when trying to get it engaged I put it in park, neutral...the whole schpeel. So I'm assuming this means it is NOT the switch correct? Can I also rule out the fuse then, too? I searched and found this brought up plenty of times...but no one really updates with what finally solved the problem.

Anyway thanks for any help guys!
