The disassembly is the quick part...  I don't have to spend any money!  It's once I get into cutting off rusted metal and sourcing the replacement parts that I may not be able to work as quickly as I want to.  This weekend will probably be the removal of the engine/transmission, but I think I may work at disassembling the dash to get a better picture of what it looks like on the inside of the firewall.  Once I'm down to sheetmetal inside, out comes the power washer to get everything as clean as possible.

I found some replacement cowl sides from Original Parts Group for $55 each so that should make things easier.  I have to call them first and verify what exactly it is they're selling, but from the description I think it is everything that I need.  The Paddock has a complete floor pan with rockers for $900.  Considering that all of the other places I've checked have the complete floor without rockers for $850, that's only another $50 for both rockers completely welded on and EPD primer.  The rockers definitely need replacing.

When we removed the doors, I found the passenger side to be quite bad.  The whole front corner was rotted out.  I didn't remember to snap pictures of it, but would be a pain to repair.  The driver side door isn't all that bad, but does have rot in it.  Most likely, this can be repaired and the door re-skinned.

We'll see...

All of the rot at the bottom of the cowl sides was caused by a previous repair (before I purchased it) where they filled that entire cavity with tin foil to build off of for glassing the fender!  Quick and dirty!  Geez...

But yeah, I may have to fab up a patch panel for below the door hinges.

Also, I pulled off the trim on the passenger side and there are some pin holes at the bottom of the A-pillar.  Not all that bad, but more stuff to patch in.

Well, I have some more pictures, but I haven't uploaded them to photobucket yet.  My cousin and I did more work on tearing the interior out of it.  Still have a few bolts that were giving us fits on the seat belts, but for the most part all I have left to do is the dash inside.

Anyway, I found out what this car looked like originally.  The paint code is 45 which is green mist.  It originally came with a dark green vinyl top which I will not be going back to.  This picture here is what I might do...  Not a typical color to choose which what makes me like it even more.

Yeah it will look great when you get it all fixed up. I like the green with the black top and stripes. I would definately do the stripes.

I'm actually contemplating no stripes now...  Maybe go with the sleeper look and build up the extra sb350 into a twin turbo, fuel injected motor to around 650hp!

What's the progress Kyle?

We are thinking about getting out of the Jeeping/offroading and into the classic car world instead. We like Galaxies and Parisiennes from the 60's, convertibles, of course.

What fun would you be if you weren't running around topless Jenn?  LMAO!!!

Well, the progress has been painfully slow.  The engine and trans are ready to come out.  Just need to pull the trans crossmember and the motor mount bolts.  The dash is still in the car as well as all of the glass.  Once those things are out, then it's time for a little sand.

With everything else that has been going on lately (namely Gavin, my 2 month old son), I haven't had the time to get down there for a little over 2 months now.  Dad's not complaining about the lost shop space so it hasn't been a huge priority.

Only person that keeps egging me on is my mom's cousin who is itching for another project after completing the full restoration of his 65 Chevy II SS.  We will be sitting down and working out a 1 night a week schedule soon though.  Just have to get through this latest round of fire training!

Ya, finding the time to work on vehicles is always hard. It's one of those things you just have to make a committment to and just do it, I guess. The thinga bout restoring classics is that sometimes it takes time to find parts, so things can be put on hold for quite a while. My father-in-law is in a club where they have the luxury of having a clubhouse where they can store their projects and work on them as they go along. I think he's been working on his latest project for over 2 years now. Of course we won't be allowed to join the club because it's a "no girls" policy haha. No matter...they're all old farts anyway. I'm guessing it will take until at least next year for us to find what we are looking for.

Hope you get your schedule worked out soon...can't wait to see the progress.

Yeah, shortly here I'm going to just go down there for one night a week and work on the car for 3-4 hours.  Just have to start doing it and get into a schedule.  Nice thing about my car is pretty much everything is available.

Hey looks really nice so far. You said you were going to add to the motor. How good of shape is your frame, and I was wondering if you had plans for making it stronger.

The frame is straight.  That's about all I can say about it at this point.  I'll know more once we get the body off.  Looks great from underneith.

I think the way we are going to do the trunk floor and drop offs first, then hang and fit new door shells.  Following that with the rear quarters.  All before we pull the body from the frame for the first time.  After that, it's time to cut out the floor and replace the floor as well as smoothing out the frame.

As far as strengthening the frame, I won't be doing much by way of strengthening it...  These frames can handle power well without any modifications to them.  If I were to do anything, I would box the side frame rails.  The chassis setup will be stock control arms with poly bushings this time around with upgrades later on.

I'm going to rebuild the original motor again which will end up around 400HP naturally aspirated.  My other SB350 4bolt motor is destine for bigger things.
