well i went to go get the front end aligned and when i went to pick it up the tire shop said they couldnt do it because both lower ball joints have play in them. they gave me an estimate of around $530 that parts, labor, and an alignment. does that sound too high or is it a good price? the parts are $108 per.

WAAAY TOO HIGH!!!! The ball joints themselves are only  Change them youself, much cheaper and its not hard to do, just takes time is all. There is a how to for breaking down the front end somewhere on the forum that goes pretty in detail. I think the write up was done by dcflux. Do a quick search and you'll find it. Now if your not too mechanically inclined, find a shop with a better shop rate. Sounds like they may be taking ya for a ride with parts and pricing. If you are moving at a good clip you can get everything done in 6 hours, 8 if ya hit problems and the parts are only $40-$50 a side from your local parts place.

i dont really know that it has a sound. it still drives and rides fine. a couple of weeks ago i took it to a tire shop to get my tires rotated and balanced, then get it aligned. the guy told me that they couldnt align it cause i had some play in both lower ball joints. i think that it kinda makes a click kinda sound but im not sure.
