i recently came across a 5.3 vortec long block in the paper and i was wondering if anyone has any info on this type of swap i have a 96 blazer 4 dr 4x4.....any imput would be much appreciated

If you're going to swap to an LS series engine 5.3/6.0/4.8 and such, you'll have a much better chance of success if you have EVERYTHING with it... Wiring harness, sensors... pretty much the best way to do it, is to find a wrecked truck with a 5.3 and buy it and go from there...

Having just the block is going to be a major PITA

im getting ready to start a similar project........ recommendations?

a certain vehicle

year make model

perferably a V8

currently drive a 2002 chevy blazer s10 four door LS

want a v8 that will drop in

There is no "drop in" V8s... you're gonna have to do some hammering, lol...

The easiest swaps, seem to be the standard 350, or non LS based small blocks.

The LS series of engines, like the 5.3 have different mounting, and the electronics are a lot more work to hook up.
